Boost Your Grade Course B
Waves, Electricity and Quantum Physics

Classes are delivered online through Google Meet from 11:15 - 12:45 (BST) from the 15th to the 19th of August.

Class Details:

  • Hone your understanding of how to interpret I-V characteristic curves for wires, filament bulbs, thermistors, and diodes. Work on explanation skills for the shape of these characteristics and link filament lamp graphs to resistivity calculations. Questions practiced may further include links to practical skills, circuits, resistance, current, and potential difference.

  • Tips and tricks for solving circuit problems involving internal resistance, potentiometers, potential dividers, and Kirchoff's laws. Tackle tougher combination questions with multi-step calculations. Questions practiced may further include links to resistivity, I-V characteristics, practical skills, power dissipation, and brightness.

  • Explore how the photoelectric effect, atomic energy levels, and wave-particle duality are inextricably linked. Understand which points are needed in explanation questions to get all the marks on an exam. Questions practiced may further include links to electricity, particle physics, diffraction, Young's double slit experiment, astrophysics, and the EM spectrum.

  • Prove the equations as needed on many specifications and understand the key differences between the intensity graphs for a single, double, or multi slit. Learn how to swiftly answer both calculation and explanation questions including changes in the wave source (e.g. sound wave to laser, or changing the colour of a laser). Questions practiced may further include links to wave-particle duality, the EM spectrum, sound waves, practical skills and astrophysics.

  • From musical instruments to microwave ovens explore various applications of stationary waves and understand how to adapt equations to reflect different scenarios. Further develop your skills so that longer explanation questions become a breeze. Questions practiced may further include links to wave basics, reflection, Young's Modulus, molecular kinetic theory, and energy transfer.
